Chloraka

Chloraka is a nice village near the sea. The area has grown in popularity in recent years and many properties have been built there as the area offers such fantastic views.
A well known landmark in Chloraka is the shipwreck pictured here. Back in March 1998, heavy seas caused the Honduran-flagged M/V Demetrios II into some rocks in the shallow waters just off the coast near Paphos Lighthouse, close to Chloraka Village. The ship was en route from Greece to Syria and was carrying a cargo of timber.

Luckily the crew of eight men – four Greeks, two Pakistanis and two Syrians were all airlifted to safety by a British Military helicopter.
The vessel was left stranded on rocks near the Paphos lighthouse, where it remains to this day.

The area of Chloraka has enough shops, restaurants and banks to fulfill the needs of locals and visitors. It is a reasonable distance to Paphos Airport and other major towns such as Coral Bay and Kato Paphos.
